Startup Space

Tasked with studying how an existing retail / mixed-use building in San Mateo could be refurbished to serve as office space for the burgeoning technology sector, MEI investigated design solutions which built upon the best features of the existing 1950’s structure. The final proposal involved the retention and rehabilitation of the period-appropriate facade decoration, the exposing of existing wood truss ceilings, and the addition of high-performance glazing to enhance daylight penetration and soundproofing.
